Te Ataarangi ki Te Waipounamu
Te Ataarangi ki Te Waipounamu is a rohe of Te Ataarangi, dedicated to the revitalisation of te reo Māori across the South Island. From Kaikōura to Murihiku and Rakiura, and across to the West Coast, our kaupapa supports whānau, hapori and ākonga on their reo journey.

Ngā Kaupapa
Te Ataarangi ki Te Waipounamu offers a range of kaupapa across the rohe to support and grow te reo Māori in our communities.
From Kura Pō (night classes) held throughout the week, this includes beginner to intermediate levels - through to Te Māhuri for those ready to deepen their reo and learn the unique Te Ataarangi methodology, there is a pathway for every stage of the journey.
We also run Pōkapū Rumaki (immersion hubs) across the rohe, each grounded in a specific horopaki or context. These wānanga take te reo outside the traditional classroom, weaving it into kaupapa like Te Taiao, Toi Māori, and the celebration of Matariki - creating meaningful, real-world reo experiences.
Wherever you are on your journey, we welcome you to walk alongside us, immersed in the reo, in te ao Māori, and in whanaungatanga.
